Mechanics, originated in Ancient Greece by Aristotle and Archimedes, and rigorously formulated by Newton, Lagrange and Hamilton, has made remarkable contributions to the science and technology development, and to the civilization of mankind. During the long history of mechanics, various sub-fields and sub-disciplines have been developed, such as solid mechanics, structure mechanics, fluid mechanics, biomechanics, geomechanics, computational mechanics etc.
Currently, mankind is facing many grand challenges including, for example, the current COVID-19 pandemic and other public health concerns, as well as food shortage, environmental pollution, global warming, energy shortage, aging, etc. Trained in mechanics and equipped with new scientific research tools and methods, mechanicians are today actively engaged in addressing a wide variety of problems related to these challenges, ranging from new materials, energy, biology, food and health technologies, electronic devices, manufacturing, robotics and devices.
We are pleased to announce the first International Conference on Mechanics for Global Challenges (ICMGC 2022) which is aimed to establish a premier platform to discuss the important roles of mechanics in addressing these global challenges. We anticipate a group of world’s renowned, mid-career and young mechanics researchers and practitioners participating in the conference. We hope ICMGC will provide an ideal platform for generations of researchers to intermingle and interact with world-renowned leaders in the mechanics field.
We welcome you to join us at ICMGC 2022!
